DAFFODIL day, August 22, was a beautiful sunny day though a little chilly with a cold wind during the morning.
The daffodil is the international symbol of hope for all touched by cancer.
A number of people gathered in the Lake Grace Art Space for a cuppa and fresh scones to help the Cancer Council raise funds for essential services, education and research programs, making a difference to people with cancer today, and helping protect lives in the future.
Cancer remains one of Australia’s biggest health problems. One in two men and one in three women are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.
A display of bright yellow daffodils and teddies were sold during the morning tea. A cake stall was held which had a generous range of cakes, biscuits, slices, jams and other homemade produce.
This was well supported by all who attended.
Daffodil day is the largest fund raising event of its kind in the southern hemisphere and the day of the year when people can unite and lend their support in the fight against cancer.
